17 April JHB Hunt

Wow! Our first hunt 2 weeks ago was crazy hot and we had 75 beagles… and our hunt yesterday was cold and wet and our numbers had almost halved, to 35 beagles! Which is still a really big group!

The grass was wet from days of continuous rain, the rocks were slippery and the beagles wasted no time at all in getting sopping wet while running through the long grass.

We welcomed back some beagles who had their first hunt last time, and they did well in finishing some or all of the lines this time!! Well done Zoe, Bernie, Fonzi and others for finishing your first (of hopefully many!) lines this weekend!! A little bit of persevarance is all it takes! (and maybe some threats about being sent to the pound if you don’t perform! hehe! πŸ˜‰Β  )

Here is Fonzi in his new red bib:

AND we had some first timers who did very very well and finished some lines too!! Very well done to Andy & Lisa and Max & Peaches for finishing some lines on their very first hunt! Nicely done! Keep it up!

Pretty Peaches looking very proud of herself!

And Max in the zone πŸ˜‰

Aimee and Nelson looking up at something which could *ONLY* have been food! πŸ˜‰

Baxter was NOT interested in having his photo taken!

Sweet Pippen in her lovely new 2011 bib – how are those cute little frills!? She was sopping wet though!

Roger before he lost his bib on the last run… silly pooch!

All lining up and ready to go…

And they’re off!! The grass in very long… it quite difficult to follow their path up and down the mountains!

Pilchards for everyone!! Look at Bernie in the front, his ear is completely covering his face! Funny beagle!

And to end off… Penny – pretty in pink – modelling her 2011 Snoopy Themed bib!

Thanks to all who braved the cold wet weather!

Remember our raffle is still going… R20 per ticket – the price is a gorgeous cake to the value of R800 from Salon de Culinaire…!

Also remember to start thinking about pairing your beagle/s up with other beagles for the doubles… The points scored both both beagles in the pair are added together. There is a DOG DOUBLE, BITCH DOUBLE and MIXED DOUBLE… our scores from last year are online here: http://www.beagles.co.za/sr2010/

It’s a nice way to be involved in the performance of other dogs, and not just your own! So have a chat to each other at the next hunt – and start thinking about it πŸ™‚

Have a great Easter, and we’ll see you all on 8 May! πŸ™‚

Happy Beagling!
