Goodbye Rebel

We received some very sad news this week… one of our very few veteran beagles in the Gauteng Club is no longer with us 🙁

Rebel, you were such a sweet gentle lady… that soft white face always had a smile! You may have been elderly, but you didn’t seem to think so – you always complained when you were held back at the hunts – all you wanted to do was run your short little white legs. Whenever you finished the lines, you came trotting back, head held high looking looking looking for your mom… you really were a mommy’s girl, but you would take cuddles from all who loved you.

We are going to miss your sweet little face, and your frilly green polka dotted bib.

We are thinking of Jane, and Pippen and hope their hearts can find peace soon.

For those Beagle Babies in the sky
Who have left our loving arms
Don’t stop to ask or wonder why
Just know they’re free from harm

No pain or fright confronts them now
They’ve left that all behind
They’re embracing joy and freedom
And still live in our minds

Eyes are bright and seeing clear
Velvet skin is healed
Legs aren’t stiff, and ears can hear
Our love they still can feel

Embrace their memory, hold it tight
Wipe away your tears
The Beagle joy that filled your life
Will last throughout the years

Think of them with happy thoughts
Say a thankful prayer
All those happy Beagle angels
Still know that we care

Rest in Peace, Rebel.

Thanks Tanya for those kind words. Rebel certainly loved the whole hunt scene & I think that had we had a hunt on the day she passed, she still would have given it her all. She is missed by both Pippin(who definitely looked to her for guidance) & myself as she has left a void that will be hard to fill.
