9 month old male beagle needs forever home – Gauteng

*NOTE:* beagles are high maintenance dogs. They need constant attention and lots of exercise and mental stimulation. Training is essential for puppies! They are easily bored, and WILL bark and howl and disturb your neighbours. They WILL dig up your garden and chew your plants/shoes/kreepy-krawly/clothes/sprinkler system/everything they see ESPECIALLY if they are bored. PLEASE remember these factors when purchasing a puppy!! Beagles are pack animals and NEED to be part of your family. A beagle living outside, alone is a recipe for disaster.*

Please so some reading and research into the breed if you have not had a beagle before. Dog Breed Info has some valuable info as well as Wikipedia. You may find some interesting info on Burke’s Backyard too. **

Calvin is a 9 month old male Beagle.

He is pedigreed (with papers) & has had temperament assessments done with very positive results.

He is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped.

Calvin has had a hard start in life where he lived in a home that was not able to give him the right attention therefore he needs training. He has the sweetest nature and would be happiest in a home with other dogs. He loves kids and requires a decent size garden as Beagles are very energetic dogs. We are not sure what he is like around cats.
Calvin needs owners who are willing to spend time with him, be patient with him and teach him what is acceptable to his new family. The family that takes Calvin needs to realise that he is going to be naughty, he is full of energy and he will need a lot of attention but with the right owner, he will make the most fabulous dog!
You need to understand the Beagle breed before you commit to taking Calvin. They are amazing dogs, but it is easy to underestimate their needs and at the age of 9 months, they are still mischievous dogs. He will not be the perfect dog from day one, effort from his new owner will be required.
Calvin is a very special boy, who needs to be accepted and loved, in a family who will accept is faults and teach him what is right. He loves being walked and going for runs, he is very boisterous and definitely needs a young dog to be his friend. It would be ideal to have someone at home during the day.

Is Calvin still looking for a home?
We have a Studvet Female and understand the breed has unique needs. We have had our furniture and plants chewed, but persistent training and love has her calm and an absolute joy!
