3 beagles needing new homes – JHB

EDIT – REHOMED!

*NOTE:* beagles are high maintenance dogs. They need constant attention and lots of exercise and mental stimulation. Training is essential for puppies! They are easily bored, and WILL bark and howl and disturb your neighbours. They WILL dig up your garden and chew your plants/shoes/kreepy-krawly/clothes/sprinkler system/everything they see ESPECIALLY if they are bored. PLEASE remember these factors when purchasing a puppy!! Beagles are pack animals and NEED to be part of your family. A beagle living outside, alone is a recipe for disaster.*

Please so some reading and research into the breed if you have not had a beagle before.Dog Breed Info has some valuable info as well as Wikipedia. You may find some interesting info on Burke’s Backyard too.

Before you get tempted by the cute face, have a look at this post to see what beagles around South Africa get up to when you are not looking**

These 3 beagles’ elderly owner sadly passed away, and his family are unable to keep them – please let’s help these 3 find new homes.

The older 2, Charlie and Sally, would ideally love to be kept together if possible. The younger male, Harry can be rehomed separately if need be.

They are currently in Olivedale JHB.

The three dogs currently reside in Johannesburg, Olivedale. We think it would be best to keep the two older dogs, Charlie and Sally, together as they have lived their entire lives as a couple but that the youngster, Harry, could move on alone.

Additional info & pics on each dog:

Charlie is a playful and obedient dog with a soft nature, a real gentleman. He loves to spend time with his owners as he has received a lot of love from his master all his life. He still enjoys walks and has a lovely youthfulness about him.

Sally is very cute with a soft nature and a good ear for listening to her master. She won gold ribbons for the best behaved puppy in her puppy classes. She loves to have her belly rubbed by her master and enjoys outings. She suffers from diabetes and needs to have eye drops put in twice a day for this. She doesn’t fuss at all when receiving her drops. We are researching a cheaper alternative for her to receive her insulin but the current cost is R500 a month. If we find her a well suited home and there is no way they could afford this we would make arrangements for my grandfather’s estate to support this cost.

Harry is independent and a very athletic dog and I think he has been somewhat frustrated living in a small yard and that he would be well suited to active owners with lots of space to roam. Harry is the grandson of Sally and Charlie. *He has lived in a complex his whole life so I’m sure he has come into contact with cats but I cannot guarantee that he gels well with them.

Are these three beagles still not adopted?
I am interested, my 11 year old beagle had to be put down two months ago, I have had Beagles for the past 20 years of my life and understand them well.
Still too heartbroken to have a new puppy but maybe the two older ones deserve a good” old age home”

Let me know how to contact youdirectly if you don’t mind
