Top Ten 2015 Results – Gauteng

Last Sunday morning was the Top Ten Challenge in Gauteng … the ten beagles with the highest scores from the 2015 season came along to compete in the ultimate challenge, a 7.6km line through the mountains, with only the ten of them competing.

After a cold and wet Saturday the beagles were itching to get out and do their thing.

Snoopy, Bono, Mason, Tag, Horatio, Calleigh, Seamus, Mousse, Hougie and Biff were all amped and ready to show us what they love to do !

The bikes loaded up the scent bag of pilchards

and the Top Ten made their way to the veld where they were all scented

and the bikes made their way off into the mountains, dragging the scent behind them

The bikes left at 7:30am and laid the 7,6km line in 45 minutes, crossing the finish line at 8:15am.

the wait seems like a lifetime in dog years!

The beagles were released at 8:10am and were off like a shot!

and off they went into the distance, baying all the way!

and the wait started.

Bono came back to the start soon after leaving, which left 9 dogs out on the line.

We caught sight of 6 of them about 10 minutes after the release and they were about a third of the way through already!

Every now and then we caught a glimpse of a white tail, or a flash of a coloured bib along the line but we weren’t sure who was who as they were so far away.

At about 8:38am (28 minutes after being released) we saw a pack of 5 beagles making their way towards us at the finish line… it was going to be a VERY CLOSE finish! There was not much space between them… but they came in one by one…

in first place: TAG!!!

In second place BIFF

followed closely by his “brother” HOUGIE (injured foot and all!) claiming third

Just after them, the first lady of the group, SNOOPY N came fourth

And just behind her, a lanky SEAMUS claiming fifth place!

A few moments of quiet while we waited to see who would be next…

at 8:50am we saw another pack of the remaining 4 dogs, again, all pretty close together… these beagles had not run as fast as the first pack, but they were still running at what looked like top speed… they had obviously paced themselves a bit better and didn’t look nearly as exhausted as the first bunch.

Sixth place was taken by MASON

closely followed by  MOUSSE in seventh

and bringing up the rear in eighth place was HORATIO and his “sister” and the final lady of the group, CALLEIGH in ninth place!

What a great run to have 9 of the 10 finish and all in quite close proximity of each other!

Well done to all 9 for finishing, and a special congrats to TAG for his achievement!

After the excitement died down, we celebrated with a delicious champagne breakfast and the beagles enjoyed the pilchards.

another awesome season spent with our beagles. Thank you to everyone who has made this season possible – it really is a team effort!

I wanted to send you a bit of observation in order to give thanks yet again with the magnificent tips you’ve featured on this page. It’s so wonderfully generous with people like you to provide unhampered all that a number of us could possibly have supplied for an ebook in order to make some bucks on their own, precisely considering that you might have tried it in case you considered necessary. Those things likewise acted to be a great way to know that some people have a similar keenness much like my personal own to grasp a whole lot more with regard to this problem. Certainly there are several more pleasurable situations in the future for many who look into your website.
